 Instant Message or Instant Attack?
It seems that authors or Internet viruses and other types of malware are targeting instant messaging platforms more frequently. The prevalence of instant messaging in the work place, coupled with the fast paced nature of how these networks spread viruses and other malicious content, is providing malware writers the fertile ground to practice their mischief.
Given the fact that so many organizations rely on instant messaging, it's becoming paramount that organizations must maintain a vigilant eye on the IM application and its content. If your organization uses IM technology, be sure and talk to your IT provider about the steps you're taking to secure your network.
